TICE.PT, was established in 2008, based in Aveiro, engages and mobilizes relevant actors throughout the country, with special focus in the regions of Aveiro, Braga, Porto, Coimbra and Lisbon, covering the entire value chain in ICT. It was formally recognized in August 2009 by the Portuguese Government in the context of Collective Efficiency strategies of QREN – the Portuguese Strategic Reference Framework.
TICE.PT renewed Competitiveness Cluster status for a period of 6 years (in February 2017) within the framework of INTERFACE national program. INTERFACE program aims to accelerate technology transfer from universities to enterprises, to promote the certification of products, to increase the competitiveness of Portuguese economy and companies in national and international markets.
Internationally, TICE.PT was awarded with the Gold Label for Cluster Management Excellence awarded by the European Secretariat for Cluster Analysis (ESCA).
TICE.PT ambition is to “Build a cooperation platform involving and mobilizing main ICT actors in innovation processes, R&D, knowledge transfer, advanced training, development, production and marketing of products and services, marketing and internationalization”. TICE.PT aims at creating a decisive and strong impact on the national economy through the knowledge transfer, advanced training, development, production and marketing of products and services, marketing and internationalization as a result of fostering the interaction among key actors (knowledge and economy). The clustering process assumes the creation of a symbiotic dynamic generating a virtuous cycle of growth, with clear benefits for the economy.
TICE.PT adopts a clear inter and intra-cluster strategy and takes an active role in promoting national and international partnerships, involving different actors and promoting liaisons between Research and Technology Organizations and companies, allowing the generation of products and solutions with higher potential in the national and international markets.
TICE.PT currently involves over 90 bodies, 67% of which are Companies (mainly SMEs), 17% are RTO and 16% are Associations, basically distributed throughout northern and central Portugal, as well as in the area of Lisbon and the Tagus River Valley. The total revenues of our member companies account for 4.770 B€ including 1.178 B€ in exports and employees more than 14200 persons. During the period 2017-2019, our network members had invested over 88.3 M€ in Horizon 2020 projects and 333.7 M€ in national R&D funded projects.
