The IPR experts

The IPR experts have the mission to deepen and expand the services offered to the LEADERSHIP4SMEs community. Obviously, the conditions of these services will be bilaterally defined between the service providers and the SMEs and start-ups interested in obtaining their support. However, they will provide the community members presentations on specific IPR related topics, according to their expertise, in the scope of a series of workshops that will be specifically organized during the LEADERSHIP4SMEs programme. Through the Matchmaking features offered by the Venture Development Platform (please go to Join our community) the community members will have access to a Marketplace offering the possibility to identify service providers who will present their services and to engage with them for obtaining specific support.

Innovation intermediaries

Innovation intermediaries are represented by clusters, DIHs, incubators, accelerators, technology transfer offices, techno parks … They have the same target groups – start-ups and SMEs offering disruptive technologies, having in certain cases a sectorial or a technological focus. The innovation intermediaries play a key role in LEADERSHIP4SMEs as they can act as multipliers and substantially increase the access to the start-ups and SMEs target group. As the LEADERSHIP4SMEs consortium provides added value services and information to the members of their network the partners from this category are naturally incentivized to collaborate. In addition, the LEADERSHIP4SMEs consortium also allows them to engage with new companies needing support either in the specific geographical areas they cover or according to their specific sectors. Also, the LEADERSHIP4SMEs consortium aims to disseminate the tools and services defined for the community, with the objective to stimulate their uptake and increase the impacts, as well to engage in a process of best practices sharing and peer learning.

Financial Intermediaries

The Financial Intermediaries are represented by business angels, VCs but also institutional investors and banks, in particular the ones engaged in specific SME and start-ups support programs with the support of the EIB and the EIF. The purpose of engaging with this category of stakeholders is double: on the one side the objective is to provide them access to a deal flow of start-ups and SMEs seeking funding while on the other sharing know-how about the importance and practices to assess IPR in the funding process as well as to offer them an active role in the development and evaluation of the tools for the valuation of the IPR developed by the consortium. By leveraging the examples of the laureates of the calls for applications as “case studies”, the objective is to share our approach and methodology with this category of external partners and to integrate their feedback in the improvement process of our approach, methodology and tools.
