FAB4 DIH Confartigianato Salerno

  • July 12, 2022

FAB4 DIH Confartigianato Salerno has been accredited by the Italian Minister of Economic Development as a Digital Innovation Hub and it’s registered on the EU Smart Specialisation Platform, in order to provide digitalisation services and technology transfer procedures to its associated MSME under the new Italian “Industry 4.0” program. Also, Confartigianato Salerno has been accredited by the Ministry of Economic Development as a Temporary Export Manager. Indeed, among the value-added services, Confartigianato supports companies in the implementation of internationalization programs, through dedicated specialized staff members in order to provide the best targeted internationalization strategies, on the specific needs of each business initiative. In the last years, FAB4 DIH Confartigianato Salerno has been developing its EU Projects Management Department in order to provide concrete impacts on the local level related to the territorial development in terms of green and sustainable strategies for business and promotion of the traditional craft activities. In this regard, FAB4 DIH seeks to support and promote the local resources and boost the local economy which has to be based on those. The economy of the Campania Region, and in particular of the territorial province of Salerno, is based on agrifood, cultural heritage & eco-sustainable construction models, tourism, innovation, sustainable energy. Concerning those economy sectors, FAB4 DIH Confartigianato Salerno is part of a wide network of stakeholders operating on the regional and national level, like the Cluster AgriFood Campania, the EEN, Innovation and Technology Centres. Also, Confartigianato Imprese Salerno signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Salerno in order to define the cooperation between the two parties aimed at supporting innovation and digital transformation processes for SMEs and craft businesses, aimed at:

  • developing collaborative research and technology transfer projects;
  • design and implement advanced training activities for businesses;
  • promoting the use of laboratories, facilities and technological skills available in the University for start-ups and SMEs;
  • supporting the process of setting up and developing start-ups and academic spin-offs aimed at enhancing research activities.

Moreover, FAB4 DIH Confartigianato Salerno, through its Innovation Managers has been working together with the Chamber of Commerce of Salerno, in order to support its SMEs to innovate and digitize start-ups, micro, small and large enterprises under the “Impresa 4.0” Italian National Plan. In particular, the opportunity offered by the Call for Digital Vouchers Enterprise 4.0 (14.0) promoted by the Digital Business Point (PID) of the Chamber of Commerce of Salerno, focused on the enforcement of new digital skills and technologies for local entrepreneurs, in order to meet and fulfil the objectives defined by the RIS3 Campania document which identifies 5 specialization areas:

  • Aerospace,
  • Surface Transports & Logistics,
  • Biotechnology Human Health & Agrifood,
  • Energy & Environment,
  • Tourism, Cultural Heritage & Eco-sustainable construction.

and one transversal technology:

  • New materials & Nano-technologies.

As an example of business creation innovative project, FAB4 DIH Confartigianato Salerno has been supporting many Innovative process creations. One of those is particularly interesting as it is a model of both circular economy and new sustainable production materials, aiming at substantially reducing the environmental impact. In this regard, FAB4 DIH has been supporting a local start-up producing ceramic materials and objects, in the production of a new material, called LAVIC, produced with waste materials from the ceramic workshops, acting as a surrogate product of lava stone whose processing and application implies erosion of volcanoes. The new material has the same aesthetic and technical characteristics of stone lava, with the benefit of activating an effective circular sustainable process, lowering also the production costs. FAB4 DIH supported the start-up in the technological research process and in all the required steps to reach the actual TRL 7 – System prototype demonstration in an operational environment. In this way we aim at promoting disruptive approaches to maintain the local tradition within innovative model application procedures and technology transfer methodologies and tools. Concerning the agri-food sector, we have strengthened our expertise and knowledge of the sector through the realisation and implementation of different sectorial projects, some more technical related to the production processes and related technological applications, some more social oriented related to the empowerment of rural areas as a great sustainable resource to boost the regional and national economy. Confartigianato is also active in delivering professional training and “education-to-entrepreneurship” programmes. Through the implementation of the DARE — DAY ONE Alliances for Employment, funded under the EEA and Norway Grant, Confartigianato delivers Entrepreneurship Labs and Career Planning Labs to NEETS on the local and national level, together with Mentoring Sessions targeted on each participant in order to obtain Certification Badges and start a professional career based on an innovative sustainable and green approach.
